Hunger Action Month: One Thing at a Time
Here in Alaska, 1 in 6 Alaskans, including 1 in 5 children, experiences food insecurity. Too many families are forced to choose between groceries and other essentials such as rent, medicine, or heat.
Hunger affects more than what is on the dinner table. It can make it harder to stay healthy, focus at school, maintain stability, and plan for the future.
The challenge is serious, but no one has to do everything. This September, we are asking every Alaskan to do one thing. Donate. Volunteer. Share a resource. Start a conversation. Every action helps build a stronger response to hunger across our state.
Double Your Impact in September
During Hunger Action Month, Crowley Fuels Alaska will match every dollar donated to Food Bank of Alaska, up to $10,000.
Your gift helps Food Bank of Alaska source food and move it to communities across the state. With Crowley’s match, your generosity can go twice as far for Alaskans facing hunger.
Help us raise $10,000 by September 30 and unlock the full match.
30 Ways in 30 Days
Taking action does not have to be complicated. Our 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar offers one meaningful action for every day of Hunger Action Month.
Choose one prompt that speaks to you or follow along throughout September. Share the free food distribution calendar, wear orange, donate a most wanted food item, or help someone learn where to find food.
Follow Food Bank of Alaska for daily prompts and share your action using #FeedingAlaska.
Choose Your One Thing
- Share a photo of yourself wearing orange and use #FeedingAlaska to help bring attention to hunger in Alaska
- Host a food drive at your workplace, school, gym, or faith community
- Donate to help Food Bank of Alaska source and move food across the state
- Volunteer in our warehouse or at a food distribution site
- Sign up for our e-newsletter for stories, events, and opportunities to help
- Spread the word by sharing Food Bank of Alaska’s posts with your community
