Do I need to submit a cover letter?

A cover letter is not always required, but it’s always a great way to introduce yourself and share why you’re excited about joining Food Bank of Alaska. If you have a unique story, passion for our mission, or specific skills you want to highlight, go ahead and include one!

Do you have an online application?

No, we don’t currently have an online application. With a team of around 40-45 staff, we’ve found that a more personal hiring process works best for us.

Instead, we encourage applicants to review our open positions and apply by submitting their resume and cover letter directly via email or following the instructions in the job posting.

What is the interview process like?

Our interview process is designed to be informative and engaging—not intimidating! Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Application Review – Our team reviews your application to see if your skills and experience align with the role.
  2. Phone or Video Interview – If selected, we’ll schedule a quick chat to get to know you better and answer any questions you have.
  3. In-Person Interview –You’ll meet with hiring managers and possibly some future teammates to dive deeper into your experience and fit for the role.
  4. Offer & Onboarding – If you’re the right fit, we’ll send an offer and get you set up to start making an impact!
How soon can I expect to hear back after applying?

We do our best to review applications quickly, but response times can vary depending on the position. Generally, you can expect to hear from us within 1-2 weeks of applying.

Do you offer remote or hybrid work options?

Some positions at Food Bank of Alaska offer hybrid work options, depending on the role. Check the job description for details or reach out to our team for specifics.

What should I expect on my first day?

Your first day will include an orientation where you’ll learn about our mission, meet the team, and get a feel for our workplace culture. We’ll make sure you have everything you need to hit the ground running!

  • You'll also need to bring the following for employment verification:
  • A valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or state-issued ID)
  • Your Social Security card or a birth certificate (for I-9 verification)

We’ll provide a list of acceptable documents before your start date!
