Get a Thanksgiving Meal
Everyone deserves to enjoy Thanksgiving with a meal on the table. Food Bank of Alaska and our community partners are providing free Thanksgiving groceries to families in Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Cordova this November.
Each participating location below will provide a frozen turkey and groceries to prepare a holiday meal. Food items may vary by location and are available while supplies last.

Is Thanksgiving Blessing free?
Yes! Thanksgiving Blessing provides free holiday groceries to families in need across Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Cordova. There is no cost to receive a meal.
When and where is Thanksgiving Blessing happening?
Thanksgiving Blessing takes place on three dates in 2026:
- Cordova: Wednesday, November 18, 3-6pm
- Mat-Su Valley: Saturday, November 21, 10am-4pm
- Anchorage and Eagle River: Monday, November 23, 2-7pm

How do I know which distribution location to visit?
Distribution locations serve specific ZIP codes. Check the list of locations above and find a site that serves your home ZIP code.
Some ZIP codes are served by more than one location, so you may have options. Please visit only one distribution site.
Do I need to register or sign up in advance?
No! Advance registration is not required for Thanksgiving Blessing. Simply visit the distribution location serving your ZIP code during the scheduled distribution hours. Food is available while supplies last.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring something that shows your home ZIP code so volunteers can direct you to the appropriate distribution site.
Do I need to show proof of income or receive SNAP benefits to qualify?
No. There are no income requirements, and you do not need to receive SNAP or any other public assistance benefits to participate in Thanksgiving Blessing.
What food will my family receive?
Each household will receive a frozen turkey and groceries to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Items may include stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, butter, and other holiday favorites.
Food items may vary depending on availability, and all groceries are available while supplies last.
How many meals can my household receive?
Thanksgiving Blessing is intended to provide one holiday meal package per household. Please visit only one distribution location so we can help as many families as possible.
Can I pick up a meal for someone else?
Yes! If someone is unable to attend Thanksgiving Blessing, they can ask a friend, family member, or another trusted person to pick up their Thanksgiving groceries on their behalf. This is called a proxy pickup.
Do I need a car to receive food?
No. Several Anchorage locations offer walk-through distribution for people arriving without a vehicle. Other locations operate as drive-through distributions.

What if I don't have transportation?
Can I receive a meal if I don't live in Anchorage, Mat-Su, or Cordova?
Thanksgiving Blessing distribution sites serve designated communities and ZIP codes. If you live elsewhere in Alaska, you can visit Food Bank of Alaska's Find Food page to locate food assistance near you.
What if I can't attend Thanksgiving Blessing on the scheduled day?
Thanksgiving Blessing is a one-day distribution in each participating community. If you're unable to attend, you can ask someone you trust to pick up a meal on your behalf. Other food assistance resources may also be available.

For families already stretching their grocery budgets, the cost of a holiday meal can be one more financial challenge. Your gift helps provide a turkey and traditional Thanksgiving groceries, giving families the opportunity to enjoy the holiday without the added worry of how to afford it.
This year, we're working with our community partners to provide Thanksgiving meals for 11,000 families across Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Cordova.
