Accountant

This is a full-time, non exempt position that reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

The Accountant plays a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards, and supporting our mission by providing accurate and timely financial reporting. 
 
Essential Job Duties
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including preparing, analyzing, and reconciling accounts.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting tasks such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and mission.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and non-profit accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IRS 990 filings).
  • Monitor and manage grants, donations, and restricted funds, ensuring proper allocation and reporting.
  • Support audits and collaborate with external auditors by providing required documentation and information.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial data.
  • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to improve organizational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with program staff to provide financial insights and support for funding proposals or grants.
  • Cross train on the duties of the Office and IT Manager and assists with duties as necessary. 
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounting, with prior non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, including fund accounting and grant management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
