With a lifelong passion for food systems and community impact, Rachael Miller leads advocacy and public policy efforts at Food Bank of Alaska, working to drive systemic change and improve food security across the state.

From her first job transplanting pepper plants in a greenhouse at age 12 to shaping Alaska’s food policy and business support ecosystem, Rachael's journey has been deeply rooted in food and sustainability. She has played a key role in boosting food literacy through the Alaska Food Policy Council and has been instrumental in building strong partnerships to support hunger relief initiatives statewide.

A former Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, Rachael gained firsthand experience in sustainable development, food security, and community resilience—lessons that continue to inform her work today. She is also a professor at Alaska Pacific University, where she shares her expertise in marketing, psychology, and global impact with the next generation of leaders.

Her colleagues describe her as a dynamic and hardworking leader, known for her approachability, vision, and ability to inspire. As team member Carrie Huck puts it, "achael is a role model—an incredible listener, a source of new ideas, and a leader who truly values her team.“”

When she’s not advocating for a stronger food system, Rachael can be found boating on the Upper Kenai River, traveling, or exploring new cuisines. Her guiding philosophy? “Don’t take your foot off the gas.”
