Katie joined Food Bank of Alaska in April 2024. Schrooten leads marketing and communications strategy for the organization, helping make sure Alaskans understand the realities of hunger in our state and how donors, volunteers, partners, advocates, and community members can be part of the response. Her work connects across the organization, supporting fundraising, advocacy, public awareness, media relations, digital strategy, storytelling, events, and the tools that help people find food and get involved.

Before joining Food Bank of Alaska, Schrooten spent more than a decade at Credit Union 1, where her work focused on brand, marketing, community engagement, digital communications, and creative strategy. She has also been involved with the Filene i3 program and brings a background in innovation, problem-solving, and translating complicated issues into clear, human-centered communication.

Katie is an Alaska transplant with deep Midwest roots and a lifelong love of food, storytelling, and community. Outside of work, she spends time with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, and cat, and has been known to take food photos very seriously.
