Court-Ordered Community Service
Eligibility for Court-Ordered Volunteers
Court-mandated volunteers are considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the offense. Food Bank of Alaska reserves the right to decline any applicant.
We do not accept volunteers with offenses involving:
- Felony convictions
- Crimes against children
- Violent crimes
- Crimes of a sexual nature
We do accept individuals with misdemeanor offenses, including:
- Traffic violations
- Driving while impaired
- Misdemeanor drug-related charges
- Other non-violent misdemeanors

To be approved for court-ordered community service, you must complete the form below. A member of our team will review your application and reach out within 48 hours to discuss next steps.
Important Guidelines for Court-Mandated Volunteers
- Pre-approval is required – All court-mandated volunteers must be pre-approved before signing up for shifts. Walk-ins are not permitted.
- Attendance matters – If you cannot attend a scheduled shift, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance to allow another volunteer to take your place. Many of our volunteer events have waitlists. A cancellation link is provided in your confirmation email.
- No-shows – If you miss more than two scheduled shifts without notice, you will not be allowed to complete your service hours with Food Bank of Alaska.
- Age requirement – Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate.
- Follow all safety and training procedures – All volunteers must adhere to safety guidelines and workplace conduct policies.
- Bring any required paperwork – If you have forms that need a signature from Food Bank of Alaska staff, bring them with you.
- Maintain professionalism – Use respectful language and behavior at all times.
Our Policies
We reserve the right to:
- Turn away or dismiss any court-mandated volunteer who does not follow safety procedures, guidelines, or dress code.
- Immediately dismiss any volunteer who attempts to forge time sheets.
- Terminate court-ordered community service at any time, with or without cause or notice.
