Hunger Action Month
September is Hunger Action Month, a national campaign by Feeding America to rally communities in the fight against hunger. For Food Bank of Alaska, it’s a time to amplify the voices of those experiencing food insecurity and mobilize efforts to ensure access to nutritious food.
Food Insecurity in Alaska
In Alaska, 1 in 8 people faces hunger, including children, seniors, and veterans. Geographic challenges and harsh weather can disrupt food access, making it difficult for many to consistently afford nutritious food. Food Bank of Alaska addresses this by distributing food, advocating for supportive policies, and working with partners on sustainable solutions. But we can’t do it alone—community involvement is key.
Get Involved
Anchorage Restaurant Week offers a unique way to make a difference:
- Donate: If you can’t dine out, consider making a direct donation to Food Bank of Alaska. Every dollar helps provide food for those in need.
- Dine Out: Visit participating restaurants and enjoy special menus, knowing a portion of proceeds supports the Food Bank of Alaska’s fight against hunger.
