Purpose Of Position:
- Managing the Child Nutrition Team at Food Bank of Alaska
- Ensuring the successful sponsorship of the following federal nutrition programs:
- Summer Food Service Program (SFSP),
- Child and Adult Care Program (CACFP), and
- Meals-To-You Alaska (MTYA)
- Managing grant funded child nutrition programs
- Leading departmental child nutrition efforts and initiatives
Essential Position Duties:
- Supervise the child nutrition team including training, evaluation, workflow planning, and accountability.
- Interface and communicate with program stakeholders both internal and external.
- Take primary responsibility for successful administration and operation of current federal food programs as listed above. Conduct program reviews with the goal of continuous improvement.
- Manage the Weekend Backpack Program.
- Support procurement efforts pertaining to child nutrition purchases.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally on initiatives and functions of the role.
- Coordinate and participate in child nutrition programs site outreach and visit efforts. Statewide travel may at times be required. Opportunities for national travel to conferences and events may exist.
- Operate as part of the Programs Department, supporting departmental initiatives including Thanksgiving Blessing, agency alignment, Anti-Hunger Conference and other mission-oriented programs as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Three years+ of team-based management and leadership experience.
- Experience with federal and/or state programs preferred.
- Vision and creativity in developing and managing child nutrition opportunities.
- Focus on developing and maintaining professional relationships with a broad range of partners, stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Intermediate experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Experience with Microsoft 365 Office suite beneficial.
- Organized and detail oriented, with accountability for accurate reporting.
- Strategic thinking skills, with an eye for continuous improvement.
- High-level and comprehensive communication abilities.
- Sensitivity to the needs of Alaskans and people from different cultures, marked by the ability to relate respectfully and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to the organizational mission to end hunger.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to legally work in Alaska and government issued photo identification required.
